SCP-5971

Item #: SCP-5971

Object Class: Keter Euclid Neutralized Pending

Laconic Containment Procedures: Indefinitely monitor the Galick family.

Laconic Description: SCP-5971 is a area of intermittent silence originating from a Ms. Jessica Glaick in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Electronics within range are unable to record audio and people won't acknowledge the silence for some reason. SCP-5971 manifested around Galick following the death of her daughter Sophie; as she grieves over several years, the field slowly shrinks but remains active.

SCP-5971's file contains several iterations consisting of the Foundation's investigations into SCP-5971 and the Galick family over the course of several years.

Additional Context: Several years after the initial investigation, SCP-5971 has almost completely disappeared, with Ms. Galick finally coming to terms with the loss of her daughter. Around this time the Foundation interviews her son Joseph to learn more about Sophie's death; this inadvertently reawakens Joseph's own grief, creating a new field of silence centered around him, and effectively un-Neutralizing SCP-5971.
