Laconic Description: SCP-4991 was a period during which nobody could access social media. After it ended, social media sites worldwide were filled with posts suggesting the world was suffering an insect-induced apocalypse with global casualties. Several posts from platforms such as Twitter, 4chan, tumblr, and Reddit are provided.
Additional Context: The title of SCP-4991, ">So this is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a shitpost." is a slightly misquoted reference to the work The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot, and English poet; the work's most quoted stanza reads:
This is the way the world ends

Not with a bang but a whimper.
…combined with 4chan greentext formatting and the mention of a shitpost instead of whimper.
