Item #: SCP-4948
Object Class: Neutralized
Laconic Containment Procedures: Anyone effected by SCP-4948 is to be forced to stare at a closed door for 2 minutes.
Laconic Description: SCP-4948 is the sudden, inexplicable development of an irrational fear of doors closing. People affected by SCP-4948 in a room with a closed door will feel discomfort which will soon evolve into sheer terror, and describe the room as growing darker and objects becoming more jagged. After about two minutes of this, the symptoms clear and the fear dissipates.
A whole town gets infected with it, so the Foundation makes them all look at closed doors for a few minutes. The last infected person's treatment takes longer than usual and he appears to beg the door "Not to take it from him." After the last person is cured, several doors smelling of rotten meat appear in the room in which patients were treated. After these doors could not be removed, the room was filled with concrete and sealed off.
Additional Context: The image for SCP-4948 features a door just slightly ajar with what appears to be a figure staring through the crack, though the article makes no mention of this, and actually says
"If you feel dread or anxiety after viewing this image, or if you see any unexpected entities, please consult your on-site psychiatrist."
Moreover, the article possesses special formatting that changes the image to a door without something peering through it every other time the page is refreshed.
By the author's own admission, the figure on the other side of the door is actually the Rabbit Man featured in SCP-4000.
