SCP-4262

Item #: SCP-4262

Object Class: Keter

Laconic Containment Procedures: Make sure the Olympics are held every four years no matter what. If people chosen by the SCP-4263 event are killed, rumors of their retirement are to be spread. If SCP-4263 manages to manifest on Earth, nuke the hell out of it and hope for the best. If it still doesn't die, get ready for the end of the world because at that point nothing will be able to kill it.

Laconic Description: SCP-4262 is a phenomenon occurring 1 to 24 hours after the Olympic flame is extinguished at the end of the Olympic games whereby gold medalists will be transported to an Earth-like planet with Greek temples and ruins. There they will have to carry a torch from one end of an natural obstacle course filled with monsters to the other without letting the fire go out. Every time the athletes fail the course is made shorter, but every time they succeed the course is made longer. A huge monster (probably Hades) called SCP-4262-Ω moves with the end of the course. It is believed that if the course is made too short by too many loses -Ω will manifest on Earth.

In ancient times the Olympics were held regularly, but after they were discontinued for nearly 1400 years, all the missed Olympics counted as losses and -Ω continued to move closer, which is why it is now less than ten failed Olympics away from arriving on Earth.

Additional Context: SCP-4262 was an entry in the SCP-4000 Contest, in which it placed 23rd.
