SCP-4003

Item #: SCP-4003

Object Class: Safe

Laconic Containment Procedures: Don’t let unauthorized people in its vicinity and expunge all mentions of SCP-4003 from historical records.

Laconic Description: SCP-4003 is the fossilized remains of an old western US town called Tempest that was somehow teleported back to the time of the dinosaurs. Journal records found detail a citizen’s encounters with various dinosaurs and the eventual demise of the townspeople at their hands (or rather, their jaws).

The only possible cause of the time shift that is mentioned in the journal fragments is the narrator's account of a bright light enveloping everything and much later claiming he saw “[God’s] light in the sky, shinin' so bright next to the moon,” though this is never elaborated on.

Additional Context: SCP-4003 was an entry in the SCP-4000 Contest, where it won 14th place.
