SCP-3017

Item #: SCP-3017

Object Class: Euclid Neutralized

Laconic Containment Procedures: The locations of his cremated remains are to be monitored and kept secret.

Laconic Description: Fraisure Melbrook, a man with a cognitohazard (SCP-3017-A) that made people who saw him believe that he needed to in their custody. This led to society thinking he had a criminal record and made the Foundation believe he had ties with several Groups of Interest. SCP-3017-1 was anyone he was close with, who became immune to his effect.

The Foundation, influenced by -A, continually interrogates him and threatens his family. He and a Foundation guard he befriended (now a -1 instance) escape, and travel to his house to see his family. They arrive to find his family had died in a house fire; SCP-3017 kills himself in despair.

In the end the Foundation realizes they were actually psychologically torturing and subjugated an innocent man who didn't actually know anything useful, and quietly reclassifies SCP-3017 as Neutralized.

Additional Context: SCP-3017 was an entry in the SCP-3000 Contest, where it won 17th place.
